The KRACK attack
There are already some patches to help deal with the attack, so if there ever was a time to stop postponing that update on your devices, it's now.
Here's a post by Owen Williams listing the patches for KRACK:
Devices that can update quickly are okay. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for IoT devices, which rarely see updates. As you can see, IoT devices are basically screwed so you might want to put off connecting your SmartTV to Netflix for now. Also, if you have a smart home you're pretty screwed as well.
Still, things aren't as bad as they look. Microsoft, Linux, and Cisco have already patched this issue. However, you still want to protect yourself.
Here are some things you might want to do to protect yourself from the attack:
- Update your devices
- More encryption
- Using a VPN
- Using cellular data
- Using Ethernet
