The iPhone X
The iPhone X! Definitely looks great, if a bit pricey. However, it's definitely not perfect. Here are some things to do if you have gotten an iPhone X.
Use Quick Start
A very nice feature. If you have an iPhone or iPad running iOS 11, you can use Quick Start. All you have to do is hold your old iPhone or iPad to your iPhone X and you can transfer all your stuff to your new phone. After a little window shows up, you then point old phone's camera at your new phone and type in your password. You will then be able to set up from there. You NEED iOS 11 on your old phone to use this feature, so if you don't have that already, you might want to update your phone.Face ID
Not my favorite feature. I'm always worried that someone would use a photo of me to unlock my phone, or that my face will change (perhaps a scar) and I'll lose my phone. However, you need to have Face ID enabled in order to use Apple Pay. It's your choice whether or not you want to use this feature, but I'm trying to avoid it for now.Get a Case
Seriously. The iPhone X has already been dubbed as Apple's "most breakable iPhone ever" so you will want a case to protect it. Be wary that some cases do not support the iPhone X's wireless charging.Lifehacker.com has a great article for this here
Learn the new commands
Uh oh. No Home button. But not to worry! You can learn all the new commands and gestures here.Returning home: swipe up from the bottom of the screen
Waking it up: tap the display
Jumping between apps: swipe along the bottom edge
App switcher: swipe from the bottom and hold your finger on the screen for a second
Close an app: hold an app in the app switcher and wait for the (-) symbol appears in the corner, then tap the (-) symbol
Screenshot: press the side and volume up buttons at the same time
Siri: hold the side button, or say "Hey, Siri!"
Power off: hold the side button and a volume button
Customize your Command Center
This is one of the biggest change in iOS 11. All your utilities are now on one screen. You can access it by swiping down from the right of the notch at the top. This is also where you can find your remaining battery life since it can't fit on the screen anymore. That's something else I don't like about the iPhone X.
Test out the camera
As a photographer, I cannot deny how good the iPhone X camera is. There's a new Portrait lighting mode which is great. You will want to test that out.
Change your wallpaper if you want
Well, that little notch at the top is pretty to some but just horrific for others. If you don't like that notch at the top, you can find a wallpaper here that hides the notch with a black bar. Take note that you will have to set your wallpaper at STILL, not dynamic.
Animoji
Well, it is a new feature. And I do like emojis.... might as well try it out!
